  22. a new   hardware manufacturing and systems integration company,
  23. along with a new   color laptop for NEXTSTEP 3.2.***

  27. HOUSTON, TEXAS.....     Talus Imaging Vice President Dan Kramer
  28. announced today that a new company has been formed to produce
  29. integrated   hardware solutions specifically for the NEXTSTEP
  30. market.  The new company,   Talus Systems, Inc., will be headed by
  31. Steve Hurst, former Vice President   of Talus Imaging & Communications
  32. Corporation.   The new company will also   be headquartered in
  33. Houston, Texas.

  35. The first offering from Talus Systems is a machine for which the
  36. entire NEXTSTEP community has been waiting:  a color laptop that
  37. works   today under NEXTSTEP 3.2.  The Talus T-100 is powered by
  38. an Intel DX4-100   processor and features both 16-bit TFT color
  39. and 16-bit stereo sound.  The   T-100 will offer hard drive options
  40. up to 524MB and RAM up to 32MB.  The   T-100 also offers an optional
  41. built-in 14.4 kbps fax/modem.  Each notebook   that is purchased
  42. with NEXTSTEP preloaded from Talus will come bundled   with a free
  43. copy of Metrotools, which includes six useful utilities to   enhance
  44. NEXTSTEP productivity, along with a fully licensed copy of SoftPC
  45. for easy access to Windows applications.  The T-100 is fully NEXTIME
  46. compatible.

  48. Steve Hurst observes that "users have been plagued with a lack of
  49. drivers that work properly with the other components in their
  50. machines.    With access to the driver/software resources of the
  51. Talus family of   companies, we can guarantee that everything works
  52. together."

  54. As Dan Kramer points out, "We have received hundreds of requests
  55. to provide totally integrated maximum performance machines that
  56. will run   right out of the box.  Customers are frustrated at the
  57. expensive and   lengthy process of trying to match components that
  58. all work together.    They want a machine that 'just works.'  Talus
  59. Systems will meet that   need."

  61. "Early responses to the T-100 color laptop have been   overwhelmingly
  62. positive," Steve Hurst further noted.  "This is a   long-awaited
  63. machine.  We understand that NEXTSTEP 3.3 will offer 8-bit   color
  64. support sometime in the future, but the power users of the NEXTSTEP
  65. market need color now.   We have a portable16-bit color solution
  66. today."
